Leading the way

As president of Brain & Spine Surgeons of New York, (BSSNY), Dr. Abrahams is responsible for running one of the largest neurosurgical and spine practices in the area. He joined BSSNY in 2004 and grew his practice significantly by focusing on the treatment of complex spine and brain disorders. In 2015, Dr. Abrahams organized BSSNY into one of the largest neurosurgical and spine practices in the area with a total of 14 surgeons. He was named president of the group in the same year.

Foundational efforts

In order to focus his research efforts in the area of spinal cord injury and brain trauma, Dr. Abrahams founded and now runs the Westchester Neuroscience Research Foundation in 2009. The Foundation’s goal is to further scientific knowledge in the neurosciences through funding innovative research projects. For example, one of the projects the Foundation recently funded in conjunction with the Department of Pathology at New York Medical College was the study of the genomic profile of malignant brain tumors.
